Lasers are being used in the manufacturing of many of today’s disposable medical devices. In the US, approximately 50% of the laser work is done by subcontractors, usually small- to medium-sized companies specializing in laser work or micro-manufacturing using lasers as well as other technologies. Contract laser service providers can be very helpful in establishing laser conditions and parameters on prototypes, but they can also be used for very high volume manufacturing if the costs are in line and other conditions are met. However, at some point–especially in high-volume manufacturing–decisions must be made about the potential of bringing a laser tool in house. This webinar will focus on some of the considerations and costs associated with each scenario.
